New qualification for permanent residency in Japan

“Qualification for Permission for Permanent Residence in Japan” was revised and has been implemented since May 31, 2019, by the Ministry of Justice.

So, I will explain the changes in qualifications for permanent residence.

For spouse of Japanese or spouse of Permanent resident holder

For Longterm resident holder

For Working visa holder

 Income and residential tax preparation will be longer

 You need to submit longer years of your income certificate (Kazei shoumeisho ) and residential tax certificate (Nozei shoumeisho) issued by City hall.

Pension, Health insurance, and Income tax

Pension payment, Health insurance payment, and Income tax payment are required.

(Nenkin, Kenko Hoken, Syotokuzei no oshiharai. 2 nenbun) 

Those must be on time = No late payments. 

For company owner

If you owns a company, you also need to submit Shakai Hoken in your company.

Note: Not required for an employee. 

The length of stay in Japan is NO CHANGES.

These are the highlights for the New qualification.

Permanent resident application is getting strict, so if you are planning to apply, you need to check if you are qualified or not.
